Kneehigh Theatre presents
Stan’s Cafe
South West premiere of
OF ALL THE PEOPLE IN ALL THE WORLD UK
31st January – 9th February 2008
Part theatre, part art installation, Stan's Cafe use grains of rice to represent human population statistics.
Over the course of the event, Stans Cafe will use one ton of rice, a grain for everyone in the UK to create an evolving landscape of labelled rice piles.
Each pile is a statistic and the careful combination of these statistics cause us to see the world from a radical new perspective.
The extraordinary simplicity of this show belies its power to amaze and inspire, to shock and delight, to cause heartbreak and joy; it is an exceptional piece of art.
Simon Harvey of Kneehigh Theatre who has been co-ordinating the project says “Kneehigh is hugely excited to welcome a world class company, such as Stan’s Café, to Cornwall. ‘Of all the People in the World’ is an extraordinary, thought provoking and unique event, and one which we want as many people as possible to get the chance to experience – which is why the event is free. It can be caught during a quick lunch hour, or savoured over a longer period of time…or both! The beauty of the event is that it is ever changing. I urge people to catch it while they can’
Of All the People in All the World has toured internationally but this is its first presentation in the south west.
