Some of the things that are influencing Mike Shepherd, Director of our radical new Beggar's Opera
When making a show, the artistic team is influenced and inspired by all sorts of things. For Tristan & Yseult for example, as well as the ancient roots of the story, and the rugged lanscape and seafaring history of Cornwall, Emma and Mike were inspired by the black, red and white slickness of Tarrantino.
For every show, newspaper clippings, cut out images, sketches and ideas are pasted into scrapbooks, pinned to rehearsal walls, and scrawled on the blackboard at the barns. These create the world in which the show is made. For Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and other love songs) Mike’s been influenced heavily by film and music. Here are some random bits of inspiration...
