50 Years of Arts Policy

50 Years of Arts Policy

Today marks the 50th anniversary of Jennie Lee's White Paper 'A Policy for the Arts'.

In 1965 Jennie Lee published her White Paper ‘A Policy for the Arts’. The paper was a strong fight for equality of access to the arts, and that the arts were crucial and essential. Today marks the 50 year anniversary of that Paper.

We here at Kneehigh continue to uphold what Jennie Lee was discussing. Through our Rambles programme, we make the arts accessible for everybody who may be unable to attend due to financial or social barriers.

You can read an Anniversary Response copy of the original White Paper by following the link below, updated by Alexandra Birchfield, Mary Halton, Amie Taylor, Fiona Whitelaw, Hugh Chapman and Stella Duffy.
