Don your aprons and prepare to cook up your own Kneehigh-inspired storm as we prepare to launch the Kneehigh Cookbook website.
Being a recommended practitioner on the Drama A Level syllabus, we are always being asked how we make work and what goes into a Kneehigh show. We’ve been working on creating a unique, easy to use educational resource website for those looking to learn a little bit more about how we make, create and perform with the 'joyful anarchy' we've become known for.
Our company has developed over 35 years. The way we work has evolved to suit our artists and to nurture their ideas. The nature of the work we make informs every part of our company’s operations and influences every member of the team. Cooking and eating together is central to the way we make work. Mike and Emma often talk about ‘cooking up a show’, ‘having the right ingredients’ and ‘palettes of taste and colour’. We're developing this website to give people an idea of all the different processes and ingredients that go into making each project. However, the site isn’t a recipe book – it won’t tell you how to recreate our shows. The idea is to inspire you to follow your own instincts, make your own creative conditions and cook up your own perfect storm.
The site itself will be going live very soon, and you'll be able to comment and feedback with your own thoughts and ideas. Stay tuned!
