Kneehigh have appointed local writer and performance poet Seth Hampshire as their first Creative Writing Intern. He will be working alongside Anna Maria Murphy, Kneehigh writer and leader of the Rambles project, which aims to engage creatively with communities through event and adventure
Anna Maria Murphy said, “Seth has been assisting me in my workshops with young people for the connections project with Kneehigh, and also as part of The Story Republic with KEAP. So far he has performed his poems to hundreds of young people all over Cornwall and put the cool in poetry for them. He has been an absolute hit so far.”
His role will include observing and documenting events, facilitating and taking part in workshops and walks, writing and performing poetry, and writing a blog for the Rambles project.
Charlotte Bond, General Manager of Kneehigh said “We’re delighted that Seth is joining us courtesy of the Creative Employment Programme. We think that we can offer him a great introduction to the cultural community locally and nationally, as well as help and support in the development of his writing and workshop leading skills. Seth’s poetry is great and he performs it with focus and passion. We are looking forward to hearing his unique insights over the next 6 months and beyond”
Last week, Seth won the Penryn Poetry Slam 2013, part of the Penryn Arts Festival. Seth has also been accepted into the Bristol Poetry Can who organise festivals and slams in the south west.
