Kneehigh restage Tristan & Yseult

Having had a brilliant third year with the Asylum, plus a much-enjoyed village hall show for Cornish audiences, Kneehigh are now announcing their plans for 2013. The Asylum itself is to be rested for a year before returning in 2014, but audiences will get to see one of Kneehigh’s most loved shows, Tristan & Yseult, as part of what will be a busy and exciting year of touring in the UK and abroad for the company

Tristan & Yseult, which premiered at Restormel castle in Cornwall in 2003, is a story of passion, obsession, betrayal and enduring love which critics have called “a triumph”, “deliriously joyful” and “breathtaking in every respect”

This critically acclaimed production catapulted Kneehigh onto the national stage. This is the original tale of forbidden desires, broken hearts and the agony of choosing one human being over another. Seen through the eyes of the 'Unloved', Tristan & Yseult blends comedy, live music, grand passion and tender truths, in an irresistible night of love.

Other activity planned for 2013 includes Midnight’s Pumpkin, Kneehigh’s Christmas Caper which runs until January 13th at the Battersea Arts Centre; The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings celebrates 50 years of the Little Angel Theatre and the amazing puppets of Lyndie and Sarah Wright. Directed by Mike Shepherd performances are at the Battersea Arts Centre from 3rd January, then touring; and new spring tour dates for Steptoe and Son

Further afield, The Wild Bride returns to America, visiting San Francisco and New York in the spring, and Brief Encounter starts an Australian Tour in the autumn

Kneehigh will also continue their Connections programme in 2013, and will engage with local communities through performance, workshops… and a guided story walk app! Details of this and other plans for 2013 can be found on Kneehigh’s website: www.kneehigh.co.uk
