We are asking all our guests this summer to follow a specific route to the Asylum, as it avoids residential areas. Please consider our neighbours and don't take any other route when arriving and leaving the site. Thank you.
How to get to the Asylum
Driving: The postcode for the Carlyon Beach is PL25 3RG, and Carlyon Bay is well signposted in the area. The easiest way from St. Austell is follow the A390 through the outskirts of the town. Pass the Pinetum Gardens and take the right at the next roundabout onto Par Moor Road. Turn right after Screwfix to pass a campsite on your right. Follow the road round to the right, then take a left at the crossroad onto Beach Road. Please see the route map below.
On cycle / on foot: Carlyon Beach is directly linked to National Cycle Network Route Number 3. This provides a safe, virtually traffic-free link to Par, Mevagissey, Pentewan and St Austell. Take care though if you’re walking or cycling in the dark.
Public transport: The number 25 bus to Fowey by First Kernow runs regularly from St Austell bus station – just get off by the shops on Beach Road then it’s just a 5 minute walk down the hill. However, you’ll need to arrange a taxi back to the station as the buses stop at 5.30pm. Some useful taxi numbers: 01726 666000 (A2B St Austell) and 0800 756 3097 (Star Cars).
