Start off the New Year by taking a step back in time!

Kneehigh's Annamaria Murphy teams up with Truro Green Walks for a time-travelling ramble round Truro this January

To kick off the New Year Truro Green Walks will be go back in time to explore years gone by.  Christine Parnell from the Old Cornwall Society which explores history from across the county will be leading a gentle stroll around Truro's historical city centre, looking back at the city through the ages to discover the Truro of yester-year.

Christine gives a glimpse into what's in store: "We will be taking a look at the old Assembly Rooms and hearing about the unusual way the building was funded; discovering old bridges that cross Truro's many Rivers; visiting grand old houses and their past owners...and more..."

Kloe Wood Lyndorff, head co-ordinator of Truro Green Walls, said about the event: "Pick up fascinating facts and stories about local buildings, streets and monuments - sure to impress friends down the pub or family visiting!  Or if you're one with a local tale why not come along and share it!"

Adventurer and poet Anna Maria Murphy from Cornwall's Kneehigh theatre will be coming along as well to collect and share stories as part of their ongoing Connections Programme which finds her venturing along coasts and coves, and visiting communities around Cornwall collecting local legends along the way.

The time travelling will commence at 2pm on sunday 13th January in front of Truro Cathedral (High Cross side), and will finishback at the same spot for 4pm.  Make sure to wrap up warm and dry, and bring any drinks or snacks you might need for your travels.  All are welcome, and the event is free and suitable for all ages.
